Theater of Living Arts, Philadelphia, PA
Tonight was a spur-of-the-moment decision to take a trip to Philly for some live music at Theater of Living Arts. My oldest kid has 1 week left before going back to college, and most of their friends have already left the area for the semester so … knowing they love music also I thought we could go see a show. Little did I know they were already aware of options and tonight was the night to do it!
There was a decent crowd there for it being a Tuesday night – almost full! What really stood out to me is how friendly the entire audience was. It was quite a broad spectrum of people, which was cool, and overall had a friendly and chill vibe … even through starting up a mosh pit. This all made it so much easier to just relax and enjoy the music.
Hat tip to Cameron for the photos.
Elliot Lee
Elliot Lee is a Brooklyn-based artist. She reminded me of a blend between Sarah Slean and Billie Eilish (how’s that for co-mingling generational references!) mixed with some visual references from Maisie Williams and Ralphie’s Christmas Story Bunny Pajamas. Funny Bunny specifically made me feel like I was watching a Japanese pop or anime commercial. It was a wild combination of visual and audio styles that all came together quite tightly into a really good performance.
Setlist

John Harvie
John Harvie was insanely excited to be there. He’s originally from Montgomery County and is a big Eagles fan so “coming home” to Philadephia was a big deal for him. And I believed it. His energy was through the roof and he laid everything out there on stage.
Setlist
- Roses
- A Little Bit Longer

Honey Revenge
Honey Revenge from Los Angeles brought loads of energy also. The lead singer seemed to channel early Gwen Stefani which was an enjoyable throwback for me. It was during this set that the pit started as well as some crowd surfing.

- Recipe for Disaster

Meet Me @ The Alter
Meet Me @ The Alter is an interesting story of three band members who met and began collaborating entirely online at the start; hailing from Florida, Georgia, and New Jersey.
They continued the evening’s high energy to cap the night off with a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the guitarist’s work and the fun projected by the band was infectious. It felt like the vocal melodies started to get a little repetitive (though still enjoyable and well-delivered) until the last few songs of the night. I think they saved their best for last and ended really strong. Those songs specifically felt more polished and was a great way to end the show!
